Better Places for People
Colin Powell is the Project Manager for Better Places for People, a WorldGBC Global Project that aims to increase the supply and demand of green buildings by focusing on improving the business case using the benefits to people’s health, wellbeing, and productivity in those buildings.
He manages the day-to-day operations of the project, including the working groups focused on different building typologies, health and wellbeing rating tool strategies, and putting the science of health and wellbeing in the built environment into action. Colin works closely with WorldGBC member Green Building Councils, sponsors, and other partners to present the business case for green and healthy buildings.
Prior to joining WorldGBC, Colin worked in a number of technical sustainability roles, in areas including greenhouse gas and airborne pollutant quantification and management, drinking water and wastewater treatment, and solid waste management.
Colin holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada, with a focus on the ultraviolet (UV) wastewater disinfection process. He also holds a BASc in Chemical Engineering and a MASc in Financial Engineering, also from the University of Toronto.
