The core mandate of the WorldGBC is Green Building Council creation and development internationally. GBCs are highly effective at engaging leaders across sectors to transform the built environment – each GBC is formed with cooperation and input from local industry, government and academia to ensure its success in achieving market transformation in the built environment. It’s proven, replicable—and it’s building momentum.

Green Building Councils work to train professionals in their country, set standards for green buildings nationally, and provide the local context for market transformation for green technologies.

In partnering with the WorldGBC, a company has access to our global network of Green Building Councils, practitioners and leading private and public sector and government organizations in the local marketplaces of over 30 countries.  At the same time, a partnership of this nature will ensure the swift growth of councils around the world.

There are several ways for companies to contribute to the creation and development of national Green Building Councils around the world.

1. Support the work of GBCs - contribute to the creation of a new Green Building Council or the development of an existing GBC in your local marketplace. Provide seed funding, facilitate key connections, contribute expertise to a national GBC.
2. Help build the tools for GBCs internationally – contribute to the development of key resources and tools that help all Green Building Councils to operate more effectively. Companies can get involved in many different ways:
