Municipal Buildings

eThekwini commits to ensure that all new and existing facilities that are owned, occupied and developed by the city are net-zero carbon in operation by 2030
Greenhouse gas emissions of local government operations are calculated and accounted for on an annual basis, focusing on individual facilities and identifying performance improvement opportunities
Durban Climate Change Strategy includes requirements for embedding renewable energy technologies on municipal assets
Energy efficiency pipeline projects already exist for municipal facilities
A comprehensive plan to be developed to outline how all municipal facilities, new and existing, will reach net zero carbon in operation by 2030 for municipal buildings
