Representatives from 38 countries came together in Hong Kong for the World Green Building Council Congress 2015 - five days of interactive workshops, inspirational speakers and green building tours to celebrate our progress and to set out our plans for the future.
Organised in partnership with Hong Kong Green Building Council, this year's Congress kicked off with the Executive Retreat at the tranquil Chi Lin Nunnery, where workshops on 'telling our story' sparked lively debate and enthusiasm for the WorldGBC vision. We heard from GBCs on the innovative ways they contributed to World Green Building Week, and discussed how to develop a ‘theory of change’ for GBCs and assess our impact.
Members Day united GBCs from across the world at the leafy state-of-the-art Zero Carbon Building. Sessions on 'thinking big' and 'thinking practically' shared best practice, whilst breakout groups gave established and emerging/prospective GBCs the chance to collaborate on the issues most relevant to them. After launching our new strategy and COP21 campaign, a celebration was in order in the form of the Shaw Contract Group Networking Dinner (complete with impromptu singing of national songs from some brave GBC representatives!).
A programme of global speakers from fascinating projects, thanks to the Thinking Beyond conference, and a Gala Dinner award ceremony honouring sustainability pioneers were perfect to round off an action-packed week.
Many thanks to all who participated and made the Hong Kong 2015 Congress such a memorable event! We look forward to seeing you all in Stockholm in October 2016.
