The businesses and innovators behind some of Asia Pacific’s most iconic green buildings have been announced as finalists in the World Green Building Council’s Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards for 2016.
Three businesses and a further nine green building projects have been shortlisted in the biennial Awards, first held in 2014, which showcase and celebrate the achievements of companies pushing the envelope on sustainable buildings.
There are two categories for the Awards: the Business Leadership in Sustainability Award, which recognises companies which are truly integrating sustainability into their business models and contributing towards a sustainable built environment; and the Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance Award, given to pioneering green building projects that deliver a range of benefits through a holistic approach to sustainability (There are three sub categories under this award: residential, commercial and public.).
The finalists are (in no particular order):

Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance category – Commercial
Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance category – Residential
Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance category – Institutional
The winners will be announced at the India Green Building Council’s annual Congress in Mumbai in early October.

“Our esteemed Jury has whittled down nominations from Green Building Councils in 11 countries across the region to the 12 top businesses and green building projects. Just four of the most prestigious will be crowned winners and recognised as true leaders in green building.”
WorldGBC is also delighted to announce that the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC - a member of the World Bank Group) are the official Partners for this year’s Awards.
Award Partners are internationally renowned organisations with a wealth of expertise on sustainability in the built environment. Both WBCSD and IFC have a member of senior staff on the Jury for the Awards. These are: Roland Hunziker, Director, Sustainable Building Cities, at WBCSD, and Autif Sayyed, Green Building Specialist at the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
