An update to the Sustainable City pLAn, the City's roadmap for an environmentally healthy, economically prosperous and equitable city, will be released in 2019 and will include zero net energy (ZNE) targets and new targets and initiatives for building electrification
LA's Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is undertaking a joint study with other California utilities on building decarbonisation
LA's Existing Building Energy and Water Efficiency (EBEWE) ordinance requires buildings over 20,000 square feet to benchmark, report annual energy and water use, and conduct audit and retrocommissioning actions every five years
Supporting programs include Building Forward LA, developing incentives for applicants who intend to build to high performing energy standards such as ZNE; energy efficiency and rooftop solar programs; battery storage rebates, and an annual $180 million USD program from LADWP for energy and water rebate programing for both residential and commercial entities
