ACCADES Partnership Promotes GBC Co-operation In the Americas

Thursday 03rd April 2014

The region of Central America and the Caribbean has identified an opportunity to establish a partnership between countries of the region. The Central American and Caribbean Alliance for Sustainable Development seeks to combine the efforts of the different countries to promote market transformation towards sustainability in the construction sector, taking into account the specific conditions and needs of the Central American and Caribbean region. The ACCADES is an alliance on a smaller scale within the American`s Network that was almost naturally generated by the similarities (in their markets, climate and socioeconomic conditions) of the countries that comprise it.

Also, through the alliance those Councils that have existed for more than three years and are Emerging such as Panama and Guatemala can support and speed up the foundation of other councils in the region who are interested in joining the WorldGBC.

Continuing with efforts at the regional level this year, the alliance has established two ACCADES in person meetings and one virtual. These meetings are combined with events and forums for the dissemination of the movement and the dissemination of the Alliance. Last year in person meetings were held at Greenbuild, and in Panama this year and it was unanimously voted that the first in person meeting of the year will be held in Costa Rica on 20 to 21 April. See the WorldGBC event calendar for more information.
