A Message from the Americas Regional Network Chair 2

Sunday 28th April 2013

The WorldGBC Americas Regional Network (ARN) is a coalition of 24 Green Building Councils (GBCs) across the Americas, from Canada to Argentina, working to drive collaboration and increasing the profile of the green building market. Our purpose is to ensure that green buildings and urban planning are part of national strategies to reduce the built environment’s impact on natural resources and biodiversity.

Led by a Steering Committee of committed individuals and regional leaders, Jennivine Kwan, USGBC, Héctor Miranda, Perú GBC, Thomas Mueller, Canada GBC, Andrés Prera, Guatemala GBC, and chaired by Cristina Gamboa, CEO of the Colombia GBC (Consejo Colombiano de Construcción Sostenible), the network is shaped by the successes of reliable organizations that have been actively transforming their national markets towards sustainability.

The WorldGBC Americas Network (ARN) gathers an enormous diversity of national organizations with excellent standards in the field of green building. We are committed to leadership through partnership amongst GBCs, sharing valuable knowledge and experiences and supporting the development of all network members.

Our collective voice is getting stronger as the ARN prepares to launch campaigns to increase awareness of the pressing need of a sustainable built environment. The ARN will hold activities rallying for Earth Day (22 April) and similar initiatives will take place in the future. Also, the network will meet during the Colombia GBC Annual Congress, 8 through 10 May 2013 in Bogota, Colombia. For more information visit www.construyesostenible.com. In September, the ARN will meet again in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

We invite you all to get involved with our work, which is committed to delivering all the economic, social and environmental benefits of green building and building capacity throughout the continent.
