The Greater Toronto Chapter of the CaGBC is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Chapter Gala: Where Adaptive Reuse Meets Sustainable Design. The Gala will take place on October 21, 2010 at Artscape Wychwood Barns, an exemplary model of building renewal and reuse. The 1913 TCC structure was retrofitted in 2008 to LEED® Gold standards for mix-use purposes. Through the collaboration of local Councillor Joe Mihevic, Artscape, a non-profit arts organization, visionary architect Joe Lobko of du Toit Allsopp Hillier / du Toit Architects Ltd., and the City of Toronto, the reuse project is now a dynamic and vibrant community centre that offers arts and cultural programs, environmental leadership, heritage preservation, urban agriculture, and affordable housing. The Barns are expected to be the first heritage building redevelopment in Canada to receive LEED® Canada-NC certification. Additionally, in our ongoing efforts to recognize excellence in fostering sustainable design, construction and management, the Chapter will be awarding an individual through a committee and jury process for their outstanding contribution to the industry. Dates for submissions will be announced in the near future. 1st Annual CaGBC-GTC Gala: Where Adaptive Reuse Meets Sustainable Design |
