On July 15 2010, GBC Perú hosted the South American Green Buildings Council’s Seminar, for the sharing of strategies and best practices in the movement of sustainable construction in South America.  The event took place at Swissotel in Lima, Peru and was attended by BrasilGBC and ColombiaGBC.

In their presentations, GBC Perú staff members demonstrated the impacts of their actions regarding the transformation of their markets towards sustainability, to encourage the engagement of private sector, government, entities and educational institutions in the Peruvian movement of sustainable construction.

In terms of developing and consolidating, the GBC Perú is following in the footsteps of Brazil and Colombia and currently has 30 founding members, among them CAPECO, the Building Industry Association of Peru, more than 20 companies in the association process. Moreover, GBC Perú has already started its Educational Program provided with the support of universities and professional LEED AP.

The audience formed by architects, engineers, investors, consular authorities and representatives of the Peruvian Ministry for the Environment, has shown immense interest in the activities presented by the GBCs.

With satisfaction, we note the expansion of the green building movement in Latin America. We are working toward the consolidation of GBC Perú.
