Americas Regional Network
Introduction and Overview
The Americas Regional Network links the Green Building Councils throughout North and South America and the Caribbean, enabling them to work together on common goals such a policy development, education and capacity building.
The entire network benefits from the knowledge and experience of the several Established councils in the region, including those in Canada, Mexico, the United States, Colombia, Brazil, Peru and Argentina. The Network members' passion for helping each other succeed as well as their strong economic and cultural ties are fueling their collaboration on key issues in both the public and private sectors.
There are 22 Green Building Councils in various stages of development in the region and many of the newer councils are advancing quickly, hosting successful conferences and events, rolling out educational programs and forming constructive relationships with their local and national governments.
Planning is underway for a number of Network programs, including workshops with government officials on implementing effective green building policies. The first such workshop was held in Mexico City in August 2011.
Members of the Americas Regional Network currently include: Established: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, United States
Emerging: Chile, Guatemala
Prospective: Costa Rica, Panama, Uruguay
Associated Groups: Bahamas, Bolivia, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Paraguay, Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuela
For more information on the network and its councils check out the September 2011 Americas Regional Report.

Several members of the Americas Network and other high-level attendees were present. This successful event led to many fruitful discussions and commitments on one of the most important areas of sustainable building in the Americas. A new discussion forum has been started on Linked In in order to continue this dialogue.
