Americas Regional Network Update

This year’s third face-to-face meeting of the Americas Regional Network was held in Toronto on 2 October (meeting minutes can be found in the Americas Network committee pages), as part of the WorldGBC Congress. In addition to a productive meeting, we celebrated the graduation of the Peru GBC to Established status!

National GBCs have been very busy this quarter with their own initiatives:
  • More than 1,200 people attended the GBC Brasil’s annual Greenbuilding Brasil International Conference & Expo in Sao Paolo at the end of August.
  • Super Cities of the 21st Century was the theme of the Colombia GBC’s annual forum held during World Green Building Week. It was another successful event for the CCCS! Photos
  • The USGBC’s Greenbuild was held in Toronto from 4 to 7 October - the first time it was held in Canada.
  • On 18 October, the Panama GBC hosted Jane Henley at a special member event on the Global Transformation of the Construction Industry.
  • In October, the GBC Brasil held the first edition of the Green Awards (Prêmio Green Building Brazil), recognizing people, companies, government activities, services and products for their contribution to the Brazilian green building sector. Video
  • The Chile GBC launched two major initiatives in November: the “Materials and Resources Technical Document” and the Chile GBC green products web page.
  • The PeruGBC recently held a cocktail and networking event to celebrate their achievement of reaching Established status with their members.
