Swee Yiow serves as Chairman, Keppel REIT Management Limited, one of Asia’s leading real estate investment trusts listed on the Singapore Exchange with assets under management of approximately US$6.5 billion. He is also Senior Managing Director of Urban Development at Keppel Corporation, a Singapore flagship multinational company which provides solutions for sustainable urbanisation with a focus on energy & environment, urban development, connectivity and asset management. He is also a Director of Keppel Land, the Corporation’s urban space solutions arm that has achieved more than 80 green certified properties across Asia. 

Swee Yiow is involved in Keppel’s absolute carbon emissions reduction targets in line with the 1.5º C targets outlined in the Paris Climate Agreement. In 2021, Keppel is estimated to have saved around 1,087,185GJ of energy through various energy efficiency initiatives and green building certifications. These savings translate to an estimated cost savings of about US$53.2 million and avoidance of around 123,000 tonnes of carbon emissions. Keppel’s efforts have been recognised by global rating organisations, including a ‘AAA’ rating by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) ESG Ratings, S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2022 Industry Mover award as well as the Euronext Vigeo World 120 Index. Keppel Land is also ranked first globally in the Diversified Office/Residential category by GRESB.  

Swee Yiow is active in various industry bodies: he is a member of the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) Board as Honorary Advisor, Deputy Chairman of the Workplace Safety and Health Council (Construction and Landscape Committee) and 1st Vice President on the Management Committee of the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore (REDAS). Swee Yiow was Advisor to the Singapore Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in the formulation of the Singapore Green Building Masterplan, which sets out policies, key strategies and targets to meet Singapore’s environmental sustainability ambitions for the built environment. 

With Keppel’s global footprint in over 20 countries, Swee Yiow is well positioned to promote WorldGBC to trans-geographical policymakers and built environment stakeholders. 

Swee Yiow joined the World Green Building Council Board of Directors in 2018 and is re-elected to serve his third term.
