Laura Chapa is WorldGBC’s Regional Head for the Americas region. She focuses on building local and regional actions that serve as a basis to trigger global efforts for climate action, the health and wellbeing of people and cities, and environmental competitiveness. She works closely with the GBCs in the Americas region to build high-impact solutions to achieve a sustainable built environment and establish the Net Zero Carbon Network of the Americas.

Before joining WorldGBC, she led the Climate Action Program for Cities supported by the Energy Efficiency Accelerator. From 2007 to 2012, Laura was Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Environment in Mexico, when Mexico led COP16. She was also Manager of the Mexico City Air Quality Strategy led by Dr. Mario Molina. Laura has also advised multiple governments and NGOs on energy and climate projects for over two decades and has been consultant for organisations such as UNDP, GIZ, USAID, CEC, and ILO.

Laura holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana de México and has postgraduate studies in energy policy and environmental management.

Laura is based in Mexico City.
