Theme: Zero Carbon Buildings for All and KGBS Youth Chapter Launch

As we set our eyes towards 2020 and with the challenge to increase our climate action ambitions, Kenya Green Building Society invites you to join the launch of the Zero Carbon Buildings for All programme, the ambitious target to decarbonise new buildings by 2030 and existing buildings by 2050.

View agenda

Buildings operations account for 28% of energy-related CO2 emissions, making them among the largest contributors to climate change. The good news is that improving buildings is also one of the most proven, cost-effective climate mitigation solutions available. Improved buildings often feature the latest in architectural design and enhance the quality of life, health and productivity of people living and working in them.

The national governments announcing their commitment to Zero Carbon Buildings for All include an impressive cross-section of developing and industrialized countries: Kenya, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. Learn more.

To date, we have championed the green buildings movement by educating, advocating and certifying. We have seen tangible results in savings in energy, water, waste diversion amongst other resources.

The World Green Building Council and Majid Al Futtaim will join KGBS for the launch as they share their lessons, knowledge, and leadership toward decarbonising the built environment.

As Kenya Green Building Society believes the best way to look forward is to remember where we came from too, all certified green buildings will therefore receive the Chair’s Recognition of Transformational Leadership Award.

With targets dated as Vision 2030 and Zero Carbon Buildings for All by 2050, the Youth must be at the core of these great strides and thereby the Kenya Green Building Society Youth Chapter will be launched to keep the youth at the core of all green building movement.
