EU Sustainable Energy Week

Monday 01st July 2013

Last week was EU Sustainable Energy Week, an initiative of the European Commission that connects stakeholders and citizens with energy issues through events around the region.

The Europe Regional Network participated in a number of events as part of the week, which included Sweden GBC CEO Bengt Wånggren moderating a panel at the Concerted Action Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) stakeholders meeting.

Six winners of the EU Sustainable Energy Week Awards were also announced at a ceremony hosted by Günther H. Oettinger, EU Commissioner for Energy. The six projects, chosen from 224 entries from across Europe, are ambitious and innovative examples to others in the area of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and clean transport.

The Europe Regional Network would like to congratulate a number of GBC members for their involvement with these projects:

* Croatia GBC member the City of Koprivnica for its project “The Bold New Face of Koprivnica”

* Latvia GBC member SAKRET for its involvement with Latvia’s “Let’s Live Warmer” project

* Sweden GBC members Umeå Energi and AB Bostaden, as part of the network for sustainable construction in cold climates (Nätverket för hållbart byggande och förvaltande i kallt klimat) for their involvement in Sweden’s “Sustainable Ålidhem” project
