India Stacks Up 3 Billion Square Feet of Green Building Space

Monday 25th May 2015

The green building movement continues to gain momentum in India, with the country recently reaching three billion square feet of registered green building space.

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of CII, has been instrumental in facilitating this major milestone, which gives India the world's second largest green building footprint.

Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman of the IGBC, emphasised that reaching this milestone has been possible because green buildings make good business sense.

The IGBC is not stopping there – this Green Building Council plans to help India reach ten billion square feet by 2022.

We congratulate the IGBC and India on this significant achievement.
