Welcome to the network: CEES joins WorldGBC as Prospective members

The latest addition to our global network is Concejo Ecuatoriano de Edificacion Sustentable (CEES). Beginning their journey as Prospective members, they bring green building practices to the south Americas region, one of the world’s most urbanised areas which is expected to be home to over 315 million people by 2025.

CEES is non-profit, non-governmental civil association, founded in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in 2011. Their key activities include fostering synergy around the construction chain value representatives, and offering learning programs and events on new sustainable building trends. CEES is dedicated to accelerating the construction industry towards sustainability to positively transform the building sector and reduce its impact on the environment.

World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) defines Prospective Green Building Council (GBC) membership as bringing together key representatives from different parts of the building sector within a country and creating a founding group, who will initially lead the design and implementation of the GBC’s governance and business plan.

Juanita Alvarez, Head of Engagement & Networks, WorldGBC, focuses on strengthening the Green Building Councils across the Americas region. She said:

“We are proud to welcome CEES to the WorldGBC family. Central and South America have active green building markets and it is crucial that we implement sustainable building practises within these to ensure a high quality of life for the people who live there. CEES will bring leadership and dedication, which will help us to reach our overall goal of ensuring green buildings for everyone, everywhere.”

Fernando Correa Sevilla, Chief Executive Officer, CEES:

“"I am very honored by CEES officially joining the World Green Building Council. We believe it is possible to achieve a balance by connecting the parties involved in the construction industry and urban development, and this membership definitely is a key step to contribute to the sustainable future of our country and the planet"

CEES joins WorldGBC’s Americas Regional Network of 17 Green Building Councils.
