Francesco Bedeschi
Architect and lecturer
Francesco Bedeschi is a freelance architect and lecturer in integrated architectural design and restoration at the Italian program of the University of Arkansas Rome Center (UARC, GBC Italia member). Assistant Director for Academics and Coordinator of the Architecture and Design Programs at UARC. He is the head and coordinator of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. In the academic year 2007-2008 he was visiting assistant professor at Mississippi State University in Jackson MS. During his stay in the USA he came into contact with the reality of US GBC and LEED and established excellent personal relationships with representatives of the Mississippi chapter. Since May 2008 he has been in contact with GBC Italy and in June 2009 he successfully passed the LEED AP exam. In 2010 he contributed to the creation of the Lazio chapter of GBC Italy of which he is now secretary.

Marco Caffi
COO of Green Building Council Italia
Marco Caffi graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of Brescia, and completed his training with a PhD at the Politecnico of Milano and a master's degree in Project&Construction Management at the University of Brescia. Before joining GBC Italia, he was technical director and vice president of an engineering company operating in energy, sustainability and technological application in buildings, developing a depth knowledge of building technologies in various sectors (airport, hospital, industry, office buildings, retail and entertainment centers) and a competence in the management of processes. In 2010, with other eight friends, he founded the edutainment science center AmbienteParco, a social initiative dedicated to environmental sustainability located in Brescia. Since 2014 he has taught Mechanical, Eletrical and Plumbing systems for buildings and dynamic energy simulation at the University of Brescia. In 2015 he joined the Green Building Council Italia as COO. In his free time Marco loves sailing and playing guitar.

Edoardo Croci
Managing Committee, GREEN
Member of the Managing Committee of GREEN - Centre for Research in Geography, Resources, Environment, Energy and Networks of Bocconi University, where he is coordinator of GEO - “Green Economy Observatory” and of the “Smart City Observatory”. He also teaches “Carbon Markets and Carbon Management” at Bocconi. He coordinates research activities in several national and European projects on green and circular economy, energy efficiency, smart cities and urban green infrastructures. He is member of the Thematic Network on Sustainable Cities of UN–SDSN (Sustainable Development Solutions Network). He is president of Italia Nostra Milan’s delegation. He served as Milan City Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Transport and Environment and President of the environmental protection agency of Lombardy Region.

Alessandro Federici
Researcher, ENEA
Alessandro Federici has been a researcher at ENEA since 2007. Currently, he is the Head of Laboratory for the Monitoring of energy efficiency policies at ENEA’s Department for Energy Efficiency. Since 2016, he has been the coordinator of ENEA’s working group dealing with the Italian National Energy Efficiency Action Plans and the Annual Reports to the European Commission, and providing support to the Ministry of Economic Development in the revision process of EE Directives. He is the project leader of the ENEA’s Energy Efficiency Annual Reports and Tax Deduction Scheme Annual Report. He is the Italian delegate in the Energy Efficiency Working Party of the International Energy Agency (IEA), in the Executive Committee of the International Partnership for the Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC), in the Implementation Working Group for Energy Efficiency in Industry (IWG6) of the Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan),
and in the Task Force on Mobilising Efforts to Reach the EU Energy Efficiency Targets for 2020, established by the European Commission. He was the coordinator for ENEA of the H2020 project PUBLEnEf (http://publenef-project.eu/); he is currently involved in the EU project CA EED - Concerted Action Energy Efficiency Directive (https://www.ca-eed.eu/Homepage), ODYSSEE-MURE (https://www.odyssee-mure.eu/), HARP - Heating Appliances Retrofit Planning (https://heating-retrofit.eu/), meetMED - Mitigation Enabling Energy Transition in the Mediterranean Region (https://meetmed.org/), GreenAbility - Green abilities to tackle social issue, ENPOR – Actions to Mitigate Energy Poverty in the Private Rented Sector.

Settimo Gaetano
Air pollution research expert
Expert in air pollution national research programmes, focusing on the impact of pollutants on the environment and on human health. Responsible for numerous campaigns for the detection of macro/micro-pollutants in the air indoor/outdoor, of emissions from industrial processes and evaluation of the risk to exposed populations.
Member and National Coordinator of the Group for the Indoor Air Study - ISS.
Expert in national working groups held by the Ministries of the Environment and Health regarding the release of IPPC-AIA Best Available Techniques (BAT) authorisations for plants under public responsibility, sanitation issues linked to waste incineration emissions, carbon-powered thermoelectric plants, refineries, steel plants, indoor environments and air quality analysis.
Waste Incineration Specialist for 25 years to assess the feasibility of revamping an existing waste incineration plant and construction of HW incineration plant in Italy.

Daniela Luise
Municipality of Padua
Official of the Municipality of Padua, environment and territory sector. Since July 2011 he has been Director of the Coordination of Local Italian Agencies 21. Since 2001 he has been in charge of the Environmental Information and Agenda 21 Office, which is responsible for promoting and managing environmental education and managing Agenda 21 in Padua. He has participated in various national working tables on: Green purchasing at the Ministry of the Environment, environmental accounting managed by ANPA and sustainable consumption managed by ARPA Toscana. I have experience in the management of several European projects.

Marco Mari
A lifelong sustainability advocate with an over 20‐ year experience. Including sustainable buildings, sustainable products asset management and green rating tools. Marco served for leading consultancy firms, such as BureauVeritas, taking lead roles in a wide range of high‐profile projects internationally and working closely with most renowned multinational firms injecting sustainability to their core business. Involved in all aspects of the consultancy, auditing or training process; from client contact, problem definition, proposal writing, research, analysis, model creation and development, ‘story building’, through to presentation of findings. Marco works, driven by his true passion for sustainability and by an extraordinary professional experience, covered a wide spectrum of issues and problems in many different markets and countries developing a profitable national and international network.

Valentina Marino
GBC Italia
Her role in GBC Italia: International activities and project lead, Member of the policy task force within the European Regional Network of GBCs
Qualifications: Building technology, European projects design and implementation, advocacy and policy for market transformation
She holds a Doctoral degree in Technological Innovation for the Built Environment from Politecnico di Torino, Department of Architecture and Design, with specialization in Energy Efficiency and retrofitting of existing and historic buildings.
She has 10 years-experience in large European cooperation projects. She worked as WP manager in the Geothermal Communities project (FP7, ended in 2015) where her work focused on developing and implementing a retrofitting strategy for the historic centre of the town of Montieri, and managing technical and administrative tasks of the project for the same local authority. She has recently concluded Wall-ACE project (H2020) supporting an Italian SME in the development of two innovative, aerogel-based building materials for improving energy efficiency of building envelopes.
With GBC Italia she collaborated as Project Manager Assistant into BUILD UPON project (H2020 ended in 2017) and the EEMAP initiative (ended 2019) and she is currently leading the activities of GBC Italia into LIFE LLL project (LIFE GIE), BIM4REN (H2020) and BUILD UPON2 (H2020).

Andrea Martinez
Deputy General Manager of SINLOC SpA
He sits on the boards of directors of several companies in which SINLOC has an interest, including LABO GEST SRL (since 2013), ISOM SPA (since 2013), and was a director of Sister SRL (2010-2014). Since 2014 he has been a member of the steering committee of Green Building Council Italia. Previously at SINLOC he served as a director in main contracting and EPC companies.
He is a speaker and lecturer in Italy and abroad at conferences, seminars and courses on the theme of infrastructure investment structuring. He holds a degree in building management engineering from Oxford brookes University and previously obtained a National diploma in business and finance and price from the Oxford college of further education (distinction).
He has expertise in the structuring and management of infrastructure investments and urban transformation, public-private partnership initiatives and project financing, in addition to solid management and origination experience gained in over 25 years of professional experience. In 2016 and Deputy General Manager of SINLOC SpA, after having been in charge of the advisory and investment business unit since 2009. Between 2006 and 2008 he was General Manager of ESPADA SAU, a Spanish company investing in urban regeneration and real estate projects with consolidated activities of over € 60 million.

Roberto Pagani
Science and Technology Counsellor of MAECI at the General Consulate of Shanghai.
Roberto Pagani is the Science and Technology Counsellor of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI) at the General Consulate of Shanghai, since 2016.
He is Full Professor of Building Technology at Politecnico Torino (Italy). Former researcher at Brookhaven National Laboratory, NY USA, since 1990s Pagani is independent expert of the European Commission (DG Energy, DG Research), and project coordinator of many EU energy demonstration projects. As sustainable building expert, he is a member of the design team of the Olympic Village of Turin 2006 Winter Games, and later, the initiator of the Turin Smart City initiative.
Since 2003, Pagani has extended collaborations in China. He is the concept designer of the new Sino-Italian Science and Technology Park of Luoyang (Henan), where he is Honorary Professor at the Luoyang University. Pagani is also acknowledged as Visiting Professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and academic adviser of the Institute of Urban Planning and Design of the Jiangsu Province.
From 2012 to 2015, Pagani was based in Beijing, at the Tsinghua University, as the EU co-Director of the Europe-China Clean Energy Centre (EC2), an initiative of the European Union in conjunction with the National Energy Administration (NEA) and Ministry of Commerce (MofCOM) of China. In his role, he contributed to the EU-China Energy Cooperation Roadmap 2020, and to various energy planning among European and Chinese cities.

Alfredo Pini
Manager Technologist, ISPRA
Born in Potenza, on 15 October 1957, Alfredo Pini is a mechanical engineer, enrolled in the Order of Engineers of Rome, graduated with honors from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 1982.
Manager Technologist at ISPRA. Head of the Environmental Technical Standardisation Area, which works in support of ISPRA's General Management. Previously, he was responsible for more than 10 years of environmental control for industrial plants subject to Integrated Environmental Authorization (AIA) regulations. In this role he has managed over 450 inspections in large industrial installations in Italy. Before assuming responsibility for industrial inspections, Alfredo Pini was responsible for ISPRA's support for the issuance of the AIA. Alfredo Pini is a technical consultant to judicial, civil and criminal authorities and is a member of several EU Working Groups.

Paolo Quaini
Head of Energy and Environmental Services Edison SpA
52 years old, married, 4 children. He joined Edison in 2001 where he initially worked on corporate transformation. In 2004 he contributes to the creation of Edison Trading and its operations in the Italian and European markets. From 2013 to 2016, he joined EDF's headquarters in Paris as part of the Group's Energy Services Department, with a special focus on major urban renewal projects, Smart City and IoT.
Since 2017, he has been responsible for Edison's Energy and Environmental Services developed through the Edison-Fenice industrial subholding company (of which he is Chief Executive Officer) which, thanks to the daily contribution of about 2,600 employees, operates in Italy, Spain and Poland with annual revenues of about 500 million euros.
For Edison and EDF, he has held numerous corporate governance posts on the Boards of Directors of subsidiaries that operate in the energy industry.
Since 2016, he has been a member of Edison's Executive Committee (about €10 billion in annual sales, 5,000 employees)

Virginio Trivella
Coordinator of the Scientific Technical Committee of Rete IRENE - Partner and Technical Director of Trivella s.r.l. - Managing Director Assimpredil ANCE for ecobonus and sismabonus tax incentives. He holds the position of Director and Technical Director. He is also Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of IRENE Network. He also holds the position of Managing Director of Assimpredil ANCE for ecobonus and sismabonus tax incentives for the energy development of buildings.

Sara Verones
Water and Energy Agency of the Autonomous Province of Trento
Sara Verones has a degree in building engineering and architecture, with a doctorate in environmental engineering, and works as an expert technician at the Water and Energy Agency of the Autonomous Province of Trento, where she is responsible for the Energy Planning and European Projects Area. He coordinates EU-funded projects and manages relations with EU organisations responsible for sustainable energy programmes. She carries out provincial energy planning activities, in particular the implementation of the provincial energy-environmental plan in force and the elaboration of the new version for the period 2021-2030. Sara is the author of national and international publications and speakers at numerous conferences and events.
